Oslo-listed Brazil-focused drilling contractor Ventura Offshore has secured employment for its ultra-deepwater drillship Carolina with Petrobras.

The 2011-built unit has been fixed for 910 days under a deal worth around $363m for work on the Sepia and Atapu fields in the Santos basin offshore Brazil.

The contract, which includes mobilisation fees, comes with a $113m extension option for an additional 305 days.

The drillship is currently under contract with Petrobras until the second quarter of 2026 after which it will undergo contract preparation works and class inspections before the new charter kicks in.

Guilherme Coelho-led Ventura, chaired by former Fredriksen lieutenant Gunnar Eliassen, acquired Brazilian deepwater drilling firm Petroserv earlier this year. The deal gave the company ownership of the Carolina, and the semisub rig, Victoria. Ventura also took over the management of the drillship Zonda and the semi Catarina.
