SSE Energy Markets signs PPA with CWP Energy for Scottish wind farm

SSE Energy Markets, the trading division of SSE plc, has signed a route-to-market power purchase agreement (PPA) with CWP Energy.

The two-year agreement covers the Aikengall I onshore wind farm, which is located in East Lothian, Scotland and has been operational since 2009.

Under the terms of the agreement, SSE Energy Markets will manage the sale of power generated by Aikengall I, which consists of 16 turbines producing a total of 48MW of renewable energy.

The deal aims to optimise the wind farm’s revenue by ensuring CWP Energy can capture prices that reflect market conditions while limiting their exposure to market fluctuations.

Additionally, SSE will handle the Renewable Energy Guarantees of Origin (REGOs) certificates, which track the green energy produced by the wind farm.
