Marcel Liedts, a well-known name in shipmanagement circles, has passed away.

As one of the key architects of Anglo-Eastern, alongside Peter Cremers and Richard Wong, Liedts served the Hong Kong-based shipmanagement giant for more than 30 years.

He joined Anglo-Eastern in the mid-1980s and played an instrumental role in shaping the company that today has more than 700 ships under full technical management and around 500 under crew management.

After retiring as a chief operating officer, he continued to guide the company as a valued board member.

“Marcel was larger than life – witty, sharp, passionate, and generous. He lived life on his own terms, unbound by convention, and his originality left an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of working with him,” Anglo-Eastern said in a social media post on LinkedIn. “His legacy is immense, and his absence will be felt deeply across the industry.”
