A sale between Kyklades Maritime, a private shipowner belonging to the Alafouzos family of Greece and Dhaka-listed MJL Bangladesh has appeared in broker reports across the globe.
MJL Bangladesh has tabled $45.3m for the 12-year-old, 116,000 dwt aframax, Nissos Delos.
MJL Bangladesh is a lubricant and LPG producer and trader. According to a disclosure on the Dhaka Stock Exchange, the ship will replace its only tanker in the water, the 2005-built Omera Legacy.
Kyklades Maritime, a pure tanker player, is quietly polishing its fleet’s average age. Sales registers show that it added the three-year-old Cosco Zhoushan-built aframax Mesta last year for an undisclosed price from Union Maritime. This tanker has since been renamed Amades.
