Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha (K Line) has been identified as the owner behind an order for a single LNG carrier at South Korean shipbuilder Samsung.

Brokers have tied Japan’s third largest shipping company to a 174,000 cu m unit delivering by June 2027 at about $259m.

Samsung has ordered LNG carriers at the Geoje-based shipyard before, most recently in March last year when two similar units were booked for delivery in 2026 at $258.7m.

The latest newbuild has been linked to a long-term charter with India’s Gail.
