Taiwan’s Chinese Maritime Transport (CMT) is shipping out one of its large bulk carriers.
The owner of 13 vessels spread across capesize and newcastlemax segments is selling an unnamed unit to Ever Prosperity Shipping in Singapore for $17.65m.
The company’s fleet list and VesselsValue pricing data suggest the 2006-built capesize China Progress is set to exit the fleet.
The 174,300 dwt unit, estimated as worth around $18.2m, is the oldest in CMT’s fleet, followed by the 177,900 dwt 2009-built cape China Pride, priced at about $25m.
The move indicates CMT, which owns and operates its bulker fleet through Singapore and Hong Kong subsidiaries, is making room for newbuildings booked for construction at fellow yard CSBC Corporation for delivery in 2026 and 2027.
The latest sale follows the exit of the 2005-built capesize China Peace for $20.3m last October, CMT’s oldest ship at the time.
