Scorpio International Invest from Hong Kong has emerged as the buyer of an 18-year-old VLCC sold by Greece’s Angelicoussis Group, adding one of the oldest crude tankers in the Greek heavyweight’s fleet, the Daewoo-built Maran Aries. A string of brokers reports have reported the sale, adding a $45m price tag to the deal. The ship has now been renamed Sarah, flagging with the Hong Kong register

Other takers of recent VLCC sales have emerged. Thailand’s Prima Marine is the buyer of the 306,400 dwt Xidi (built in 2004), paying  $30.2m for the 20-year-old vessel and earning the sellers $3m on the sale as the ship was purchased in December 2021 for $27.2m. This is Prima Marine’s second VLCC.
