Offshore drilling contractor Vantage Drilling has sealed a deal with Norwegian rig owner Eldorado Drilling to market its seventh-generation drillship Dorado.

The Oslo-listed company will market the rig in Africa, the Mediterranean, Asia and Australasia.

“We look forward to successfully placing the rig in operation,” said Ihab Toma, CEO of Vantage Drilling.

Vantage has managed multiple rigs for various owners, including Seadrill and Aquadrill. Excluding jackups under management, the company currently has two drillships in its fleet the Platinum Explorer and the Tungsten Explorer, the latter majority-owned by TotalEnergies.

The Dorado is one of the three ultra-deepwater drillships Svend Anton Maier-led Eldorado picked up from Samsung Heavy Industries in South Korea. The other two are named Zonda and Draco.

The Zonda is under management by Ventura Offshore and on contract with Petrobras in Brazil.

Last May, Diamond Offshore, now part of offshore drilling contractor Noble Corporation, secured rights to market the Draco as well as the Dorado in Brazil, Latin America, West Africa, Malaysia, and Indonesia.
