Tanker sales have been thin on the ground this month. One sale stands out in Greece, sealed in the popular MR segment. Greek tanker owner IMS has sold its second tanker in a row, almost doubling its money by selling the 2004-built, 47,000 dwt Bruno for $17m. The Marios Gialozoglou-led company paid $9m for the ship in 2018.
The rusty tanker is now registered and owned by Haona International Group, a Chinese company, and renamed Seaway.
At the end of August, IMS sold another STX Shipbuilding-built vessel, a same-aged sister ship, to Shanghai Wanhe Marine Shipping. This vessel is now named Starway and was sold as Butterfly. This tanker fetched $18m.
According to data compiled by VesselsValue, IMS is listed with 28 tankers with an estimated market value of $682m.
